Florida's Manatees

In 2003 and 2005 I visited Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge in Florida, where the stars of the show are the friendly manatees.
In 2003 I also travelled to Sarasota, Florida to work with PhD scientist Jennifer Miksis who was studying the manatees' response to environmental noise.

	To protect the manatees, boat speed restrictions are in place. The local brown pelicans at Crystal River seem to favour the boat speed signs as perches from which to fish. Return to top
