The Carnivores
Kruger is home to lion, leopard, cheetah, African wild dog and spotted hyena. The lions were extremely visible, the leopards elusive and difficult to photograph, and the cheetahs mere dots in the distance. We had some good sightings of spotted hyena, but no luck with the wild dogs. My quest for close encounters with leopards and wild dogs continues - a good excuse for another visit to Africa!

Leopards

We searched in vain for leopards near our first two camps (Satara and Skukuza), but had more luck in the area around
our final destination, Lower Sabie camp. We saw five different individuals in little more than 24 hours, but photography was difficult. Leopard sightings in Kruger attract large numbers of vehicles, so you're lucky to get a good view of the animal. Also, most of the sightings were at dawn or dusk in poor light. All the same, it was good to see so many leopards.
